Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
How Much Does That Cost? is built to be a trustworthy consumer pricing resource. This policy explains how we create and maintain content.
Independence from advertisers
Advertising and affiliate partners never influence a cost guide's estimates, cost factors, or recommendations. Sponsored placements, when present, are clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial content.
Accuracy
Every cost guide is built from the data sources described in our methodology. We aim for realistic, defensible price ranges rather than attention-grabbing numbers, and we'd rather show a wide range with a clear caveat than a precise-looking number we can't stand behind.
Review and updates
Each guide displays a "Last updated" date. Guides are reviewed periodically for accuracy and updated when underlying material or labor cost data changes meaningfully.
Corrections
If a reader identifies an error or an estimate that's meaningfully out of date, we investigate and correct it. You can report issues through our contact page.
No fabricated expertise
We don't attach fake credentials, invented expert names, or fabricated testimonials to our content. Where we reference outside data, we describe it honestly (industry pricing surveys, published cost data, statistical modeling) rather than implying a level of authority we don't have.
